The Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative (CMC) provides technical support to volunteer-based water quality and benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring programs within the Chesapeake Bay watershed in order to integrate data into a centralized data hub, the
CMC Data Explorer. These data are publicly available and shared with State agencies, the Chesapeake Bay Program, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to assess the health of the Chesapeake Bay and watershed.
The CMC is supported by five partner organizations that act as the CMC service providers to onboard monitoring programs and maintain the CMC Data Explorer.
- The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay
- Izaak Walton League of America
- Dickinson College’s Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring
- University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science
- Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia
