On Saturday 30th of June a pedestrian procession will take to the streets to celebrate the vibrant and creative community of SW1. Last year 250 local children, young people and adults dressed-up and danced through the streets. This year we aim to make it even bigger and better – with your help. The Parade starts at 12pm but we will meet a little before to get into position and warm up. When we get closer to the day we will send detailed instructions and the route for the day. Following feedback we have shortened the route so it will take no more than half hour. The parade will end in St George’s Square where you will join the Festival Day and can take part in all the fun on offer. What is the theme?
This year's theme is Every Voice!
Our festival theme is Every Voice with the aim to give a voice to local residents, families and children, empowering them to come together, strengthen their community and make positive changes. The theme Every Voice has been chosen to celebrate Vote 100, but also to promote equality, diversity and togetherness across our community in 2018.
Wear the green, purple and white colours of suffrage or hold your Every Voice banner with pride! Make your own placards, sashes and rosettes with slogans shouting about what matters of you, slogans of positivity, pride, bringing our community together.
Or join SouthWestFest in a placard, rosette and sashes making session - speak to Anna our Parade Coordinator to find out more - email@example.com
Every year hundreds of people take part in SouthWestFest, transforming streets in SW1. We would love you to join us for a festival extravaganza of costumes, music and dance. Come along to the SWF Every Voice Parade and celebrate in full festival style!
Parade along your streets to the fantastic free Festival, with local groups, schools and families and the amazing 25 piece UDM samba band.
