About The Rapids

Before submitting this application, please understand that as a staff member of The Rapids you will be expected to:

• Understand that part of your responsibilities will be to attend extracurricular activities as a representative of the yearbook. This includes sports games, drama productions, etc., that take place outside of school hours. You will need reliable transportation to meet certain requirements. Each staffer is required to do one after-school activity per month as part of their grade.

• Work with your team(s) to complete all sections of the yearbook

• Write articles/captions and take photos. Design and edit pages.

• Meet with advisors, coaches, administrators and students for interviews

• Come to class on time and prepared to work

• Take seriously the responsibility of producing a book that our customers pay for. This is a serious class that works hard

• Meet all deadlines required for publication of the book

The Rapids is a project-based class with student editors. Students create the book for their classmates and it will be a life-long keepsake. This class requires a great deal of responsibility, independence, a proactive attitude and extra hours outside of the school day.
