Bring a smile to kids in hospitals by making handmade cards!
When making cards, please keep in mind the following:
Cards may be any size and shape.
Card stock or construction paper may be used. You can buy cardstock or construction paper from Dollar Store/Michaels or collect from Kalpana/Shivani. We won't accept cards if they are made on regular printer paper.
No need to put the cards in the envelopes. Hospitals prefer cards without envelopes.
Do not say 'get well soon' or similar messages. Many of the children are facing terminal or chronic conditions and may not get well.
Do not include any type of religious message.
Our cards will reach to children of many different religious backgrounds.
A few examples of what you can make:
Sending Smiles (Smiley face theme)
Sending Bear Hugs (bear cut out card)
Thinking of You
Sending Warm Wishes
You’re a Star (shooting stars)
You’re a Champion (sports drawing)
Children love bright, bold and silly cards. Jokes, riddles and funny sayings are great to include.
Running out of ideas what to make? Remember that the cards are going to different children in various hospitals so feel free to repeat your favorite designs.
If you are making beanies you will earn 1.5-2 hour per beanie and this actvity caps at 30 hours per year.
Other reminders:
You can log 1 hr volunteering for every 4 cards you make. If the child spent more than that in making cards, please let us know by sending an email to
inatalent@gmail.com. If the work in the cards is very intricate then it will considered on card by card basis. Log volunteer hours at this link:
