This presentation will describe Newkirk-funded research to advance capacity to move social science disaster research into public and policy arenas. The research has included interviews with disaster-focused social science researchers who have translated their research in different ways. Currently, we are working to develop a framework for rapid assessment of how disaster research can be moved into public arenas as disasters unfold. The research is guiding development of the Disaster-STS Network digital platform (http://disaster-sts-network.org/), designed to support interconnection between disaster researchers in different disciplines and geographic regions.

Free and open to campus and community.
