In this workshop, we will cover the basics of Natural Plant Dyes. I will go over the process of using various botanicals like Achiote, Turmeric, and Indigo and will cover some basics of resists methods to create different patterns on your textiles.

About the Filipino Mental Health Initiative-San Francisco
The Filipino Mental Health Initiative of San Francisco was established in 2012 through the collaboration of mental health providers, consumers, advocates, community leaders, and interested community members committed to supporting the wellness of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in San Francisco. Through capacity building, outreach and engagement in the Filipino community, the Filipino Mental Health-San Francisco strives to reduce stigma, promote awareness, and increase access to culturally appropriate wellness services and the effectiveness of the behavioral health services in San Francisco.

PREPARING FOR YOUR ARRIVAL
A NOTE FROM THE FACILITATOR:
Participants can prepare for this class by purchasing some dye materials to follow along. If not, no real preparation but to take notes and enjoy!
-Use a Digital Device with Zoom Capability for Visual and Sound (allow 10 minutes before the workshop to troubleshoot your device)
-find something comfortable to sit on
WHAT TO BRING
a notebook to take notes, and if anyone is interested in dying or soap making as I go through the steps, I can create a list of ingredients.

-Workshops will take place using Zoom Video Conference. Meeting ID & password is shared after you register. Please do not share this information.
-For security purposes, set your Name & Pronouns on your profile that you registered with to be admitted from the Waiting Room.
-If you are sheltering in place with multiple people, we invite you to block out time to be present for your registered workshop. We hope to limit disruptions for yourself and other participants in attendance on Zoom.
