TS. Duy Tin Vo (Data Scientist, Chata.ai, Canada)

Dr. Duy Tin Vo is a data scientist at Chata.ai. I obtained the PhD degree in Computer Science at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in September 2017 and then went to Laval University to work as a postdoctoral researcher. Before joining SUTD, I worked as a lecturer at Cantho University. I received his undergraduate degree on Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Cantho University. My research interests include natural language processing (NLP), machine learning and artificial intelligence. I have been focusing on applying machine learning and deep learning into NLP, especially in sentiment analysis, E-community toxicity and text classification. During my PhD program, I must finish 05 fundamental courses where I had a chance to intensively learn and implement basic algorithms of machine learning such as Logistic Regression, Hidden Markov Model, Support Vector Machine, etc. Then, I concentrated the full energy on my research interests, where I extensively exploited cutting-edge knowledge of deep learning such as Convolutional Neural Network, Recurrent Neural Network, Long Short Term Memory, and other kinds of hybrid neural network models. Thanks to countless attempts in designing learning models and running experiments, I’ve been recognized in the field by having several publications on the top conferences in NLP (i.e. ACL, EMNLP, CICLing) and AI (i.e. AAAI, IJCAI). After graduating, I’ve been centering on deploying what I was studied into production to build efficient and accurate text classifiers such as language detection and aspect-based sentiment analysis.
