SPIRIT Advocacy Membership
Who are Spirit Advocacy?

Spirit Advocacy is a member-led organisation that is run and managed by people who identify as having lived or living experience of mental health illness or issues and/or learning disability.

What do we do?

We support people to speak up about their experiences, what they value and what they need.

We do this by creating warm, welcoming and friendly spaces for people to:
  • come together
  • offer mutual support
  • explore shared concerns
  • find common ground
People call this collective advocacy.  As a provider of independent collective advocacy we are a member of the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance

Who do we do this with?

As an independent charity we provide collective advocacy for people with lived and living experiences of mental health issues and illness (HUG Action for Mental Health) and learning disability (People First Highland).

Why do we do this?

We believe that by sharing our experiences with people who make decisions that affect our daily lives, we can find better solutions together to the issues we face.

Who can join?

Membership of our organisation is open to anyone who shares our belief in the power and value of sharing lived and living experiences.

We welcome people who reside, work or volunteer in the Highland region, regardless of their culture, class or background.
