Thank you for your interest in the Samahang Pilipino Archival Research Class (SPARC)!
SPARC is a 2 or 4 upper-division unit course, where you will conduct a research project on a topic of your choice relating to Pilipinx history at UCLA. You will gain access to the Samahang Pilipino archives, containing historical documents dating back 50 years. Your research will then be put towards writing and presenting a research paper by the end of the class. If you are interested in conducting research alongside others in our community, then this is the course for you!
Class times are currently tentative, and will be decided upon based on what is most convenient for everyone!
SPARC classes begin week 1 of the quarter.
– WHY SPARC?
• Develop skills in creating and carrying out a historical research project (which is a great thing to add to your resume!)
• Dive deep into the history of Samahang Pilipino and the Pilipinx community at UCLA
• Petition to use SPARC to fulfill an SRP 199 requirement
The deadline for this application is FRIDAY, MARCH 17TH AT 11:59 PM. Application decisions will be released by MARCH 26TH.
