Join Grassland Heritage Foundation and the Black Jack Trust at Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park on Saturday, November 4th from 9 AM to Noon for a morning of invasive plant removal. At this workday, we will be clearing invasive and woody plants from the
prairie restoration at the Nature Park, primarily targeting invasive black locusts. Please fill out the following form in order for us to get an accurate count of how many people plan to attend. We will send an email reminder before the workday and will contact you if we need to reschedule the event due to weather or other circumstances.
Please make sure that you come prepared for working outdoors in the forecasted weather. This includes a water bottle, snacks, bug spray, sun block, a hat, long pants, and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Young black locusts are very thorny, so please ensure you have long sleeves and long pants to add a layer of protection. If you have heavy-duty or leather work gloves, please bring those as well.
We will provide the tools, light work gloves, water and education & guidance on how to complete the work in a safe and effective manner. All ages are welcome!
