Plunge Into The Arts Call To Artists
NOTE:  PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE APPLYING.  ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!

Plunge Into The Arts is presented by Plunge Beach Resort in cooperation with Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, History Fort Lauderdale’s New River Artist Cooperative, and ArtServe.

The goal of the program is to provide a showcase for local professional and emerging artists whose work is unique, fun, thought-provoking, quirky, colorful, emotional and edgy as well as to support our local arts community and venues like the Bonnet House, History Fort Lauderdale and ArtServe.

The program features the work of at least five local artists at any given time. Each artist exhibits their works for approximately 30 days. Works can include watercolor, acrylic, ceramic, photography & more as well as 3-D art.  All displayed pieces are available for sale through the artist directly.  Artists MUST be accessible by phone or text and MUST be able to accept payment electronically.

Exhibits are physically installed in the Plunge Lobby Art Gallery and open house receptions are typically held on the second and fourth Friday of each month following installation from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, schedule permitting.   Plunge Beach Resort reserves the right to select an alternate date for the open house reception, should unforeseen circumstances arise.

The open house is hosted by Plunge’s In-house Curator and the featured artists. During the event, attendees have the opportunity to informally meet the featured artists and view their works while learning more about their history, inspiration and the pieces on display.

Parties interested in purchasing any of the works on display are directed to contact the artist. Again, artists MUST be accessible by phone or text and must be set up to receive funds electronically using apps such as Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, etc., and should also plan to meet any buyers at Plunge to fulfill any purchases.

In return for providing the exhibit space and sponsoring the open house reception, Plunge Beach Resort requires a 15% commission for any pieces sold while on display or as a result of the exhibition in the Lobby Gallery.  The commission is to be paid by credit or debit card to Plunge Beach Resort on day of uninstall of the exhibit.

The Plunge Into The Arts team, approximately one month prior to the reception, creates a digital flyer, a Facebook Event post, an Eventbrite page as well as an Instagram graphic that both Plunge and the artist use to jointly promote the event and drive registrations / attendance. (Any flyers created by the artist must be approved by Plunge prior to distribution). In addition to social media and email blasts, Plunge shares event information with local arts calendars and event directories. Past featured artists are also invited and are strongly encouraged to continue to support the program through attendance at the open houses.

The artist is encouraged to hold “Open Gallery” hours as well as to provide private tours on request while their work is on display. Complimentary parking is provided for such engagements as well as discounted food and beverages at our Bean & Barnacle Coffee Shop located in the main lobby and Backflip Beach Bar and Kitchen with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.

We have three sets of areas for hanging art designated as "Artist A", "Artist B", "Artist C" on our Lobby Art Gallery Diagram included in the application.  To be considered for the program in the "Artist A", "Artist B", or "Artist C" area, artists must submit via email JPGS of each of their proposed pieces including dimensions (height x width x depth) that adhere to the size requirements of the Lobby Art Gallery Diagram.

Please use this naming convention for your files: LastName_H"xW"xD"_TitleOfArtwork
Example:   Berman_30x20x1_IntoTheGalaxy.
PLEASE AGAIN NOTE:  Height x Width x Depth.  AGAIN:  Height x Width x Depth

New in 2025- We also have an area on our Lobby Art Gallery Diagram designated as "3-D Display Case" with a total of nine cubicles approximately 20"h x 20"w x 17"d each where 3-D Artists can show artwork, handmade jewelry, sculptures, etc., using the artist's own display stands.  A 3-D artist is allotted three cubicles.

3-D Artists: To be considered for the program in the "3-D Display Case" area, please send in "Diorama-like photos, using the 20"h x 20"w x 17"d display area dimensions, of how you propose displaying your 3-D art in three cubicles.

When an organization has a group exhibit, the number of cubicles per artist will be determined via discussion between the organization's representative and the curator.

3-D Artists: Taking into account the 15% commission on any sales made for items sold at Plunge -- commission is paid in a lump sum on the day of uninstall -- send in a list of the items and their pricing -- again taking into account the 15% commission.

3-D Artists:  Any packing materials -- boxes, bags, bubble wrap -- needs to be brought on the day of install labeled so we know what item goes in what.  All should be brought in a box that we will keep in the executive offices with your name on it.

Artists may also be asked to show their works either in person or via Zoom before being accepted to display at Plunge. As noted above, preference is given to works that are unique, fun, thought-provoking, quirky, colorful, emotional and edgy. While we love and appreciate portraits, nature & beach scenes, black and white paintings & photographs, still-life and similar works, they are typically not selected for exhibition here at Plunge.

NOTE:  Interested artists are encouraged to tour the lobby art gallery prior to submitting their application.
