United States Association of Licensed Psychotherapy Providers (USALPP) Founding Member Sign Up
For far too long the field of psychotherapy has been divided and siloed by professional groups (i.e. psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, etc.) and method/approach (i.e. CBT, Psychoanalysis, EMDR, EFT, etc.), and while our diversity in thinking, research and practice has moved our field forward, too often we have been fighting amongst ourselves while health insurance, media and technology companies have found ways to capitalize on our labor and often leave us seemingly ineffectively dependent on them.  It's time to unite and enhance our self-determination.

The United States Association of Licensed Psychotherapy Providers (USALPP - https://www.unitedpsychotherapists.org/) is a new not-for-profit professional organization being developed for all psychotherapy providers holding a license in any US State. Our mission is to unite, support, and advocate for all licensed psychotherapy providers across the USA —regardless of discipline or professional affiliation.

We promote the shared identity, visibility, and voice of psychotherapists working in clinical, community, and private practice settings. By fostering connection across license types, USALPP strengthens our collective impact, advances the profession of psychotherapy, and supports the well-being and success of those who provide psychotherapeutic care services throughout the United States .

We will create and facilitate services and tools owned by the Association (and not tech, publishing or social media companies or any private individuals) that can help all of us succeed in practice including:
- A Find-a-Therapist Directory that actually works for both practitioners and clients (under development)
National, State, Metropolitan Area, and Affinity web groups/listservs for facilitating referrals, fellowship, mentorship, and support (already established in North Carolina in various metropolitan areas and state wide)
- Public Education about Psychotherapy and How to Find Licensed Psychotherapists
- Advocacy with State and Federal Governments to protect and value our licensed services, stop the corporate take-over of psychotherapy practice, and limit the negative impacts of Artificial Intelligence technologies on psychotherapy practice and delivery.
- Explore creating alternative, empowering Electronic Health Record and Practice Management software tailored specifically for Psychotherapists by Psychotherapists

We will promote a shared identity, visibility, and voice of psychotherapists working in public and private practice settings. By fostering connection across license types, we believe the USALPP will strengthen our collective impact, advance the self determination and effectiveness of psychotherapists, and support the well-being and success of those who provide psychotherapeutic care services throughout the United States.

If you want to become a founding member who will review and ratify the organization's bylaws, and then vote on the founding Board of Directors, sign up below.  Membership dues will only be required once the non-profit is fully established and the Board of Directors establishes dues based on feedback from founding membership.

This started in 2010 as a grass roots community of psychotherapists in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina who formed an email Listserv/discussion group to support each other in succeeding in practice autonomously while staying in community. This has now grown to a series of listservs which include any NC-licensed therapist, and today numbers in the thousands of NC-licensed therapists (www.ncpsychotherapists.org).  We wish to see this same resource of connection, fellowship and support available to any licensed psychotherapists in all US States and Territories, and to also include new and effective tools and services that are not profiting health insurance, media or technology companies to the detriment of our field.

We are stronger together.  Join us to protect and advance our field!
