Share your story to keep + improve masks in healthcare
Deadline: Saturday, Mar 15, 2025 for best press coverage potential, but latecomers welcome!

Join our campaign to keep mask requirements in BC healthcare year-round - and to strengthen them with things like proper communication and enforcement, use of N95s, and closing gaps in coverage (like for patients, hallways, and private healthcare)!

This form is for people who are open to sharing their statement or experiences with the public, press, and policy makers. If you have any questions about this, please get in touch.

And be sure to check out other ways to take action on this page!

1. Public name
A first name, nickname or pseudonym is fine for general sharing. A full name is generally best for those willing to do media interviews (though reporters may be willing to use a pseudonym to protect individuals from reprisal - please note any considerations around this in question 10).
*
2. Pronouns (optional)
For public use.
3. City, health authority, or other region (optional)
For public use - to tag the relevant health authorities, or show you're in BC!
4. Postal code and/or the name of your MLA (optional)
For internal use, if like your statement sent directly to your local representative. (Find your MLA here.) We will not share this info publicly.
5. Your social media tags (optional)
Only include these if you want the accounts to be tagged in public posts on our social media.
6. Preferred title or framing
E.g. "immunocompromised healthcare worker", "Indigenous community advocate", "award-winning infectious diseases researcher", "mother of two"
*
7. Email address
For internal use (and verified reporters who request interviews, if applicable). If you have privacy concerns, you are welcome to make a free email account for this purpose.
*
8. Phone number (optional)
For internal use (and verified reporters who request interviews, if applicable).
9. Personal impact statement
Briefly share your personal story or statement around:
- why you or your loved ones need mask requirements in healthcare year-round
- BC healthcare settings where existing mask rules aren't being followed, and the impact this has on you or your loved ones
- why YOU need BC to improve mask rules (with things like N95s, fewer gaps in coverage, and proper implementation & enforcement)

Messaging tips:
- Longer statements may be condensed or excerpted for some outputs. A paragraph or two is plenty.
- If you have more than one message you wish to share, multiple submissions are welcome.
- The goal of this campaign is to both keep and strengthen healthcare mask requirements. For strategic reasons, we aim to prioritize messaging about what British Columbians need and how to improve mask protections, over messaging such as "BC's mask requirement is totally pointless" (due to current flaws and gaps).
*
10. What type of participation are you interested in?
Select all that apply (at least one). Please note that we cannot guarantee you'll be offered a media interview.
