The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program is for students who are interested in entering the healthcare field and designed to prepare individuals to provide health care in community settings and long-term care facilities.
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program follows all recognized provincial standards to provide training and accreditation to aspiring Personal Support Worker (PSW) students. The program will run from January 26 to June 24, 2026 at the Lindsay Adult & Alternate Education Centre
pending student enrollment and includes classroom theory and on-the-job training.
- In-class: January 26 - April 2026 (Mon to Fri 8:30am - 2:30pm)
- Placement: April - June 26, 2026
All accepted applicants to the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program are also eligible to earn six senior credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Upon successful completion of the program, applicants will also be certified as a qualified Personal Support Worker.
All applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age at the start of Supervised Long-Term Placement (April 2026);
- Currently reside within the Trillium Lakelands District School Board boundary;
- Complete a Literacy Assessment if applicant does not have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma; and
- Provide a reference from an employer, volunteer position, or former teacher (Section 2 of form).
Applicants will be contacted and must provide copies of the following documentation to Adult & Alternate Education Centre staff once they have submitted their application. Applicants who do not provide the supporting documentation below will not be considered:
- Ontario Secondary School Transcript; and
- A reference from an employer, volunteer position, or former teacher (family members will not be accepted).
Only successful applicants will then be required to complete a registration form to secure their registration spot for the program.
There is no cost to the program, as it is fully funded.
