Reporter interest form
The Bloomfield Information Project is seeking community members with backgrounds in writing or communication who'd like to be considered for paid local news reporting opportunities.
Reporting stipends begin at $100 per story with a maximum of 600 words per assignment. One assignment will take an estimated four to five hours and be completed in two to four weeks. More basic assignments are available, too.
This opportunity is ideal for Bloomfield residents who have some background in writing or communications but are looking for opportunities to work closely with an editor to develop their skills while serving their community.
Reporters receive coaching and support to prepare questions, identify sources, conduct outreach and interviews, and draft a news article responding to a local information need.
Residents who are from communities traditionally underserved by news media are strongly encouraged to apply. That includes residents who are Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, Indigenous, or low-wealth.
