ICNYU Fall 2019 Classes, Halaqa Sign-up
Every semester, the Islamic Center at NYU offers a variety of classes, halaqas, workshops and more, open to the community at large. The following classes will be held weekly at the Islamic Center.

– (STARTING 9/16)** A Journey Through the Verses of the Quran with Dr. Ali Mermer**
Mondays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 472 | 238 Thompson St.
Alongside teaching the methodology of making Tafseer (exegesis) of the Qur’an, this discussion will provide members with practice by learning self-skills to demonstrate the Tafseer of certain verses (Ayaat) of the Qur’an, especially those which are more related to the fundamentals of tenets of Islamic tradition. This discussion encourages attendants to engage themselves with the Qur’an, to make them feel that the Qur’an is within their reach and that they can communicate with the Qur’an.

Join Suhaib Webb as he begins a primer on the obligatory beliefs and attitudes of Islam.

– (STARTING 9/17)** Sheikhing it Up with Sheikh Faiyaz **
Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 461 | 238 Thompson St.
Weekly halaqas with reflections from the Qur'an, Prophetic traditions, and teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (a). The classes are aimed to allow for thought provoking discussions on matters related to ethics and spirituality. The aspiration is to take practical lessons from the discourses and work to cultivate our journey in seeking closeness to God by treading in the footsteps of the Prophet and his family.

– (STARTING 9/18) **Live & Learn with Sheikha Ieasha Prime**
Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 472 | 238 Thompson St.
Join us for our weekly Live and Learn class, with Sheika Ieasha Prime as we journey through traditional text and discover its application in our modern day lives. During class we will explore parables and ethics in the Quran while we learn to live our Islamic principles

– (STARTING 9/12) **Al-Hikam: The Book of Wisdoms by Ibn Ata'illah with Sheikh Suhaib Webb**
Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 472 | 238 Thompson St.
The Hikam are a set of directions and wisdoms that touch on our relationship with God, our emotions, mindfulness, and devotion. Each week we will cover a few of them as well as discuss them in order to enhance and contextualize their application to our lives.

– (STARTING 9/13) ** Reflections Halaqa with Imam Khalid Latif**
2nd & 4th Fridays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 472 | 238 Thompson St.
Join us on Friday nights at the IC for our weekly Reflections Halaqa with Imam Khalid Latif. Our discussions will be framed around the Book of Assistance by Imam Al-Haddad, may Allah's mercy be upon him. This text is ideal for those looking to bring structure and purpose to their own personal development and spiritual growth as it offers much insight into ethics, prayers, character, and self-reflection. – (STARTING 9/13) **40 hadith of Imam Nawawi with Sheikha Ieasha Prime**
Fridays, 12:30 PM | GRAND HALL 5th FLOOR | 238 Thompson St.
Join us every Friday at 12:30PM as Sheikha Ieasha Prime walks us through the 40 hadith of Imam Nawawi, drawing lessons for every day life.

– (STARTING 10/04) **Monthly Women's Halaqa with Sheikha Ieasha Prime**
First Fridays of Every Month | 6:00 - 8:00 PM | GCASL 472 | 238 Thompson St.
Join us at 6pm on the first Friday of every month for our women's halaqa. During this time, we will create a circle of sacred knowledge, spirituality and shared experiences. After each session of sisterhood, we will conclude with song and chai!
