Welcome to Speed Steel Workshop
Saturday, 6/15, Missoula Speed Steel will host a no-cost "Welcome to Speed Steel" Workshop.  All skill levels are welcome, as well as kids and families - join us whether you've never fired a gun before, or you're an experienced shooter and just want to get ready for a match, or anywhere in between.  The purpose of this workshop is for you to learn all about how organized competitions like Missoula Speed Steel work, practice shooting match safety rules, and have fun shooting a few courses of fire from Speed Steel matches.  If you can shoot a gun safely, you can shoot a Speed Steel match - there's no minimum skill level, aside from being safe!  And we'll help you master those safety skills at this workshop.

What will we do?  We'll start out with a 30-45 minute orientation class that all new Speed Steel participants have been through about the match rules and gun safety rules, and then we'll spend the rest of the time practicing shooting accurately (and possibly even "fast"), and trying out some real Speed Steel stages so you feel confident for your first match!  And if you complete this workshop, you may skip the orientation at your first Speed Steel match, since you'll already know the ropes.

The form below will RSVP you for the workshop being held on June 15th from 10am-12pm at Deer Creek Shooting Center bay 50A.  The workshop is free and run by volunteers.

If you have questions in advance, please contact instructor Ty Marbut (ty@wmfga.org) for details.

What to bring:
  • Eye and ear protection, if you have it (we have extra)
  • A .22LR or pistol-caliber semi-auto, revolver, or lever-action, if you have one
  • (that is, a .22 rifle, .22 pistol, 9mm pistol, 9mm carbine, .45ACP pistol, etc.)
  • (note: rifle calibers such as .223/5.56mm, 7.62x39mm, .22 Magnum, and .17HMR are not permitted.)
  • 100rds of ammo for any gun you bring, or
  • 100rds of .22LR ammo for a loaner gun (.22 rifle or pistol)
  • Weather-appropriate clothes, closed-toed shoes, and water/snack if needed
If you have questions about what guns or other gear you can/should bring, please see the Missoula Speed Steel website and follow the same guidance you would for a match.

ALL GUNS MUST ARRIVE COMPLETELY UNLOADED AND INSIDE A CASE OR HOLSTER, AND MUST STAY IN THE CASE OR HOLSTER UNTIL DIRECTED BY THE INSTRUCTOR!
