MONTE TOYON 2026: FRIDAY, JANUARY 30
to SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1
It’s time again to reserve your space at the BFD Monte Toyon
dance weekend. If you have never come, join us and see for yourself why the
tradition has lasted for decades. This year we look forward to dancing and
learning with teacher Loui Tucker. Loui plans to poll attendees
regarding their interests and will draw from her repertoire gathered during her
45+ years of teaching international folk dance. Be prepared for interesting and
enjoyable dances to inspiring music.
The camp is in a lovely, relaxing redwood grove near Santa
Cruz. The dance hall has a beautiful wooden floor with a grand stone fireplace.
Classes are from 9:00 am to Noon on Saturday and Sunday, with a culture corner
at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Friday and Saturday nights there will be all-request
dance parties from 8:00 pm until ??? Saturday afternoon can be spent walking
on the beaches, hiking through the redwoods, visiting the nearby towns, or the
monarch butterflies at the state park (or napping).
Meals are prepared by the friendly kitchen staff with allergy/diet preference
alternatives available. Sleeping accommodations are in Cary Lodge, a two-story
building with 4-person dorm rooms with bunk beds. We generally have 2 to 3
people in each room. Come to dance, eat, drink, sing, and visit with old
friends and make new ones!
