Junior Tax Accountant - Application for Role

ASE Group (www.ASEgroupoffices.com) is a boutique CPA firm in Northern NJ, and we provide full-service accounting & tax solutions to small business owners in the NJ/NY/CT/PA area. We help business owners create strong and sustainable businesses by making the dollars make sense. Our firm is growing and we are currently seeking a Junior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to join a young dynamic team with great growth potential.  

Candidates will be exposed to clients in various industries. Our clients typically live and/or work in NJ/NY/CT/PA, have a mix of self-employment income, capital gains/losses and/or rental property activity, and seek year-round advisory support. The candidate must have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude, be detail- oriented, and be able to effectively prioritize to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation, Location and Schedule:
Job Type: Part-Time
Location: Hybrid (West Orange, NJ & Remote)
Pay: $25 -$30 per hour + performance-based bonus
Benefits: Health (Medical/Dental/Vision) & 401k for employees working 25+ hours a week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am - 2pm. Additional hours and flexibility in schedule available as you ramp up.
 
Junior Tax Accountant Job Responsibilities:
-Prepare federal and state individual (1040), Partnership (1065) and S Corp (1120S) returns, related extensions and estimates
-Conduct tax research on a variety of tax topics
-New client onboarding
-Draft responses to federal, state, and local tax notices
-Take on an active role in tax planning -- Identifying potential tax deductions and savings clients have not considered
-Advising clients about tax laws and how to meet requirements
-All other duties as assigned

-2+ years demonstrated experience in Intuit ProConnect Tax Online, strongly preferred
-Audit background (or experience with documentation and “ticking and tying”)
-Ambition & a strong desire to succeed and excel

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Attention to detail with tenacious research skills
-Excellent problem-solving skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GSuite
-Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
-Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, tax or finance
-EA/CPA or EA/CPA candidate, strongly preferred
-Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting/tax/finance
