[Registration] Binhian, Bungkalan, Bahaginan: Tugon sa Panawagang Tapusin ang Kagutuman!
Warm greetings!

The Philippine Network of Food Security Programmes (PNFSP), Ugnayan ng mga Manggagawa sa Agrikulutra (UMA) , Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikulutre (MASIPAG), Panay Council for People's Development (PCPD), Samahan at Ugnayan ng mga Konsyumer para sa Ikauunlad ng Bayan (SUKI Network), AGROECOLOGY X, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and Sibol ng Agham at Teknolohiya (SIBAT) cordially invite you to the forum People’s Review of SDG 2: “Binhian, Bungkalan, Bahaginan: Tugon sa Panawagang Tapusin ang Kagutuman!” on July 6, 2021, at 2-4PM.

Steps are being made to apparently address the problem on hunger and malnutrition at the global level. The UN Food Systems Summit is now underway, which according to proponents, will launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, which includes achieving SDG 2 or Zero Hunger by 2030. In relation to the Food Systems Summit, the Department of Agriculture has also devised a holistic approach to agriculture and fisheries transformation to make the country food secure and resilient by drafting 12 key strategies to ‘grow’ agriculture in 2021 and beyond. However, are these public policies enough to eradicate food insecurity and looming famine over the Philippines?

The forum aims to: a) assess the Philippines’ progress in implementation of SDG 2; b) identify major policies and programs hindering the eradication of hunger and malnutrition especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic; and c) propose policies and present case studies on people-led food systems addressing the people’s rights for safe, sufficient, accessible and affordable food.

The forum is part of the 2021 forum series of the people’s review of the sustainable development goals themed “Rising above the health and economic crisis in the time of COVID-19” organized by the Council for People’s Development and Governance through the PH Civil Society SDG Watch and in cooperation with member organizations and their networks.
