Maria’s victims
According to official statistics, around 60 people died because of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. But there are more. The Center for Investigative Journalism (CPI) has documented at least another 50 deaths that have not been registered by the government. Now CPI is partnering with Quartz, an international news organization that specializes in data journalism, to investigate the full number of Maria-associated deaths.
