About You
Do you have any current certifications (e.g. First aid/Cpr, Lifeguard, EMT, Paramedic, Activity Specific) that may benefit camp? Do you plan on obtaining any certifications before camp?
Why are you interested in becoming a staff member? *
What is something new that you learned today and how did you learn it? *
This can be either about yourself or the world around you. If you haven't learned anything, it is okay to put that.
It has been three years since we have held a residence camp. We are also moving to a brand new site.

It doesn't matter if you have been in the industry for 14 years or this will be your first year working a week long residence camp.

Being blunt, this will be a major and rough transition for staff as well as campers. For 2023 team to successfully navigate these waters, it will be crucial that everyone properly prepares for it in advance. This is not something people will be able to prepare the night before or the even the week before. How do you plan on preparing and balancing preparations with everything else going on in your life?

Being recognized for my work is more important than the team receiving credit.
Help must always be earned. Before I give it, I must receive it first.

When I know something is going on, I feel like I must share it with someone else before it just bursts out of me.
People often say I have a knack for knowing what is going on with someone.
I procrastinate a lot when I get stressed.
I like to know everything that is going on.

People often describe me as very blunt.
Once I have a plan in mind, I find it hard to adapt it.

What is something that you may struggle with serving as a staff member, and how do you plan on handling it? *
It has been two years since we have held a multi-day camp experience. It doesn't matter if you have been in the industry for 14 years or this will be your first year working a week long in-person camp. Virtual experiences are very different than in-person, and this is a pilot on top of everything. This will be a major and  potentially rough transition for staff as well as campers. For 2022 team to successfully navigate these waters, it will be crucial that everyone properly prepares for it in advance. This is not something people will be able to prepare the night before or the even the week before. How do you plan on preparing and balancing preparations with everything else going on in your life? *
Scenario 1: You overhear two staff members discussing something personal, but it is upsetting to hear. What do you do and/or say? *
Scenario 2: Camp is a week long day residence camp that runs from 8 am to 9 pm. Due to the COVID management plan, the camp has been required to stay isolate in groups (aka slimes) of 25 campers and 6 staff members. Groups have to stay outside. While consulting with a higher up via a walkies-talkie is possible, a slime largely needs to act independent.  It is now Wednesday of camp. Staff exhaustion has begun to set in, and it is already 94 degrees at 10 am. It is going to be yet another scorcher. Furthermore, both campers and staff are tired of seeing the same faces over and over and over. During one of your activites, several of the campers immediately start misbehaving (e.g. being loud, not listening and goofing off) and continue to do so after 5 house points were deducted.  Tired of them not listening, one of your fellow staff members who coincidentally got little sleep the night before because of the heat begins yelling at them very loudly and aggressively. The campers are being belittled and made fun of by the counselor. What do you say and do in the moment? How do you approach on resolving the underlying issues while still adhering to the COVID plan? *
Communication is important and this is a way of just opening the lines of communication early. The answers to the following questions will only be seen by Ash, the director. It is to allow for a faster set up of the organization.
If you were referred to us by someone, please let us know their First and Last Name so that we may thank them.
If you are hired, do you wish to give permission to share your contact information with the rest of the staff? *
Required
If you are hired, remind will be used to send out text reminders regarding important deadlines/information. This is a text message and your particular cellular service may have an associated charge. (It is possible to change your selection mid-season.) *
Low frequency: You will get a reminder 1 before the deadline. | Moderate frequency: You will get two reminders before the deadline. | High frequency: You will get three to four reminders before the deadline.
Required
Carpooling & COVID: Historically, it has been pretty common for staff members to car pool to camp. With COVID, we have to be mindful of cross contamination. Do you plan on carpooling? Is there someone you traditionally carpool with? Are you open to carpooling with members of your assigned group? *
Feedback: Do you desire feedback on your application? (Again, your answer has no bearing on the outcome. The hiring committee won't see it. Only Ash will, and she is not on the hiring committee.) *
Required
In the event that you are hired and are needing to seek reasonable accommodations . . .
