'My Confucius Institute Story' National Essay Contest
Thank you for your interest in the CIUS Center's 'My Confucius Institute Story' National Essay Contest. This contest is an opportunity for Confucius Institute students from across the United States to share their stories of engaging in Chinese language and cultural education.

Essay Prompt:

The Confucius Institute's mission is to promote mutual understanding between the US and China through educational and cultural exchanges. Tell us your story of how participating in Confucius Institute activities or programs have had a meaningful impact and cultivated people-to-people exchanges.

o Essays will be evaluated on creativity, reflection, and compelling storytelling.
o Chinese language ability is not considered in the evaluation criteria.
o 1-2 pages, single-spaced, Times New Roman, size 12 font, excellent grammar and formatting, including a title, written in English, .docx format.
o Confucius Institute representatives of ALL ages are encouraged to submit an essay
Contest winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Washington, DC to attend the 2019 National Honors Gala. Honorees will be recognized on a national platform and ninety percent of honorees also receive a commendation letter from their US congressional representative.
