The morning swim is ¼ mile each direction and typically takes 20-25 minutes to get over and back. Advanced swimmers have the option of a second lap for a full mile swim. Thursday evening swims do not cross the Willamette River. It is a swim from the Fire House Dock to the Kevin Duckworth Dock, this swim is a little over half mile each direction. Participants in the Thursday night swim can go one direction and walk back or swim up and back for a little over a one mile swim. Experience in open water swimming is highly recommended. All participants must have intermediate swimming skills. All new participants are encouraged to wear fins.
In partnership with Portland Fire, this year the River Huggers will have storage locker on the firehouse dock to store belongings while we are on the water.
