AKPSI Spring 2019 Membership Overview

Alpha Kappa Psi is a Professional Co-ed Business Fraternity founded in 1904 with the purpose of developing its members into principled business leaders. Initially founded by four men at New York University, the professional organization now has over 298,000 initiated members at 219 universities in 4 countries. Alpha Kappa Psi has grown to be the oldest and largest business fraternity in the world! With an extensive network of alumni, members can land opportunities at some of the most profitable companies in the world. As one of the best professional co-ed business fraternities, we are indeed preparing our brothers for a life of success. The University of Southern Mississippi joined this esteemed brotherhood with the establishment of the Tau Omega Chapter in 2002 and upholds the fraternity’s traditions and values through its workings of hosting professional events, community service, and additional campus and community outreach.

Eligibility:
• Enrolled students at The University of Southern Mississippi
• In good standing (not suspended for disciplinary, financial, or attendance issues)
• Agree with governing documents of the Fraternity and the Tau Omega Chapter ( i.e., The Constitution, Statement of Policy, Chapter Bylaws, Tau Omega Code of Conduct)
• Agree to the set obligations of the Tau Omega Chapter:

Obligations:
a) FINANCIAL EXPECTATION
• Have a minimum grade point average of 2.50 out of a 4.00 scale
• Passing of the Fraternal Exam with minimum 76 percent
• All members are required to pay the set financial dues in full by the established deadline:
• Have paid the pledge fee of $215 with a minimum installation of $75 given at pledge orientation (pays for pledge pin, PEP manual, fraternal exam)
• $180 per member (by cash, check, or money order) - Installment options available

b) FRATERNAL INTERGRITY EXPECTATION
• All members/pledges are expected to uphold the core values and beliefs of the Fraternity to ensure the face of the Fraternity remains elite.

c) ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS
• Members/Pledges are expected to arrive at least 5 minutes early to every event.
• General Meetings are mandatory for all student members, unless unable due to an excusable situation (i.e., work, scheduled class, family events, health appointments/visits, extreme circumstances).
