Mamma Mia! 2019
From everyone on our production staff, welcome to the Drama Department at Brien McMahon High School. Putting on a successful musical requires a tremendous amount of time and effort from a large group of people. We wouldn’t be able to put on a great show without all of your help!

We have great expectations for this year’s production. The success of our show depends on your dedication. This handbook has been written to outline the rules, guidelines, and expectations for everyone involved. In order to have a successful show this year and for years to come, we need your support.

Attendance: Everyone must attend the rehearsals outlined on the schedule. Missed rehearsals mean time wasted re-teaching, whether it’s for the cast, crew, or pit. Absences from rehearsal can be excused in the following situations: absence from school the day of rehearsal; illness; family emergency; vacations planned PRIOR to receiving the rehearsal schedule. (You must inform us AT LEAST one week in advance if you will be missing rehearsal for vacation.) Parents: Please take note of rehearsal and performance dates before planning vacations. In case of an excused absence, please notify the stage manager, whose contact information you will receive. Provide notice as far as possible in advance of any absences so we can plan our rehearsals accordingly. Failure to notify the stage manager in advance will result in an unexcused absence; excessive absences will result in your dismissal from the show. Plan to be present at the start of each rehearsal. Unexcused tardiness will not be tolerated, and may also result in your dismissal from the show. *
Required
Schoolwork: Remember that you are still a student in addition to being a part of this musical. Plan to manage your time to meet your academic obligations. If you know you will have a lot of work, tests, or papers due the day after a rehearsal, plan your week out accordingly to ensure they get done. Missing rehearsal because of schoolwork will count as an unexcused absence. *
Required
Behavior: We expect professional decorum and rehearsal etiquette from students at all times. It goes without saying that this includes being respectful to all students, teachers, and parents involved. Members of the Production Staff have authority during rehearsals. Rehearsal time is limited, so we cannot waste any time. In general, you should not talk over others while rehearsing, use your phone during rehearsal, or engage in any other distracting behavior. Should disrespectful or disruptive behavior occur, the consequences will be given at the discretion of the production staff, up to and including your dismissal form the show. *
Required
Rehearsal Attire: Students should wear clothes that will be easy to move in. No student should wear anything to rehearsal that would impede his or her performance. *
Required
Food: Bring plenty of water to rehearsals. If you think you will be hungry during rehearsal, then bring your own food or snacks. Be prepared; you will not be able to order or pick up food during rehearsal. *
Required
Drugs/Alcohol: There is absolutely no tolerance of underage drinking or smoking, or illicit drug use of any kind. Violation of this policy will result in immediate dismissal from the production without the refund of any dues paid. *
Required
Videotaping Permission Form: All students participating in this production must have a video permission slip on file with the Norwalk Public Schools. *
