In a gorgeous mountain-view studio, I will share:
- investigations into walking/running/spiraling/sliding
- specific pathways for moving efficiently in and out of the floor
- tools for sharing yourself fully in unpredictable spaces
For my dancer peers, this class will be based in Flying Low and Passing Through, renowned techniques for approaching floorwork and group improvisation with independence, precision, high energy and speed!
For the casual dancer, this is a way to to learn how to move efficiently and precisely in and out of the floor, access your own improvisations, and move with other people!
We'll warm up with shaking and qigong. We will work through short floorwork phrases that are like little puzzles for our bodies to solve. Class doesn’t necessarily culminate in choreography, but rather moves through solo and group investigations. T
hese practices help us to transform our bodies, the group and the space in which we play.Recommended Experience:
Open level, but some previous dance training is recommended. Expect to move repeatedly through a full squat, and to run! However, most folks are new to this work and most all of us are out of practice- come challenge yourself!
Wednesdays in Jan: Jan 17th, Jan 24th
