All the questions, with the exception of the demographic questions, are required. It is helpful to respond to the demographic questions as they will help create the parish profile, but it is not required.
So that you are aware of the process that The Episcopal Church suggests, and that your Bishop's Committee in conjunction with Canon Anna, will be using, we wanted to inform you of the steps:
1. Congregation is invited to complete questionnaire.2. Questionnaire responses will be analyzed and grouped into themes by Canon Anna and shared with Bishop David for review.3. Identified themes will be shared with the Bishop's Committee4. At that time, it will be determined if we begin the search process for a new Priest in Charge, or if we call an Interim.
IF WE START A SEARCH:1. Canon Anna and Bishop's Committee will create a profile for potential clergy candidates2. Canon Anna will begin receiving names through the Office of Transition Ministry3. Canon Anna, in consultation with Bishop David, will vet candidates and create a "short list" for review by Bishop's CommitteePLEASE NOTE: THE PROCESS OF VETTING AND INTERVIEWING CANDIDATES IS COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL. YOUR BISHOP'S COMMITTEE CAN NOT DISCLOSE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT POTENTIAL CANDIDATES UNTIL THE SEARCH IS CONCLUDED.4. Bishop's Committee, working with Canon Anna, will interview "short list" of candidates. Bishop's Committee will create a ranking of the candidates (1st choice, etc). 5. Canon Anna will share the rankings and results of interviews to Bishop David and prepare an offer to the candidate. This is a Priest-in-Charge position, so Bishop David will have ultimate approval of the candidate called. However, we will endeavor to do this as collaboratively as possible with the Bishop's Committee.6. Once the candidate responds to offer, Canon Anna, in consultation with Bishop David and the Chancellor, will create a Letter of Agreement and negotiate the starting date, compensation, etc. for the new Priest in Charge
IF WE CALL AN INTERIM:1. Canon Anna will contact the Office for Transition Ministry to determine an appropriate Interim clergy person to serve at St. Paul's2. An Interim is assigned to a parish by the Bishop for anywhere between 6-18 months; this is a contracted position.3. The interim MAY NOT be called to serve as the new Priest in Charge.4. The search process will begin within the last few months of the Interim's service to the congregation
