Local Foods, Local Places: Kansas City, Missouri Virtual Workshop Registration
Welcome! This is the registration page for the Local Foods, Local Places Virtual Workshop for Kansas City, Missouri taking place October 20-21, 2020. This is a series of seven, interconnected, virtual video conference sessions spaced over a two-day period. The process is designed for interactivity. It will create a community action plan built by you, the participants. Ideally you can attend all sessions, but if you cannot commit to all, just select the first and last sessions and any others you can attend. Event conferencing links, program information, participation instructions, and other handouts will be sent to you by email prior to the first session. VIRTUAL WORKSHOP SESSIONS (ALL TIMES IN CENTRAL TIME - CT)
There are seven sessions over a two (2) day period. It is best to attend all if you can. Otherwise select just what you can. If time is pressing, we recommend Sessions 1, 4, and 6.  There will be follow up conference calls after this workshop series to refine the plan and outcomes, which is an opportunity to provide additional feedback.
Session 1 - OPENING MEETING Tuesday, October 20, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM (90 min) “Vision and Values: Where are we going, what do we want to be.” The purpose of this session is to provide context for the Local Foods, Local Places planning assistance process in Kansas City, review the community's goals, and hear your values and vision for local food and place-making. *
Session 2 - CASE STORIES SHARING Tuesday, October 20, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (60 min) “Exploring Strategies and Solutions: What can we learn from peer communities?” The purpose of this session is to explore ideas, strategies, and solutions through stories and case studies of peer communities that might help Kansas City advance its goals. *
Session 3 - SMALL GROUP EXERCISES Tuesday, October 20, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (90 min) “Exploring Strategies and Solutions: What does success look like, what needs to happen.” Small working group exercises stimulate thought and exchange around the goals to help prep for action brainstorming at session 4. *
Session 4 - ACTION BRAINSTORMING Tuesday, October 20, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM (90 min) “How are we going to make it happen: Creating a To-Do list” Our purpose is to get all the ideas for actions to advance the goals in one place for consideration and poll ranking during Session 5. *
Session 5 - ACTION PRIORITIZATION Wednesday, October 21, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (60 min) “How are we going to make it happen: Prioritizing Actions.” Purpose is to prioritize actions into the top 4-5 actions of each goal to focus on first. *
Session 6 - ACTION DETAILING Wednesday, October 21, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 – 2:30 PM (180 min w/ hour lunch break) “How are we going to make it happen: Action Detailing.” Detailing specific, measurable, achievable next steps with responsible parties and time frame. Purpose is to continue small group work to further detail action plans if necessary. This the only two-hour session of the schedule, which is needed for more intensive action detailing. *
Session 7 - WRAP UP SESSION Wednesday, October 21, 3:00-4:00 PM (60 min) “Making it happen: Present action planning results and review next steps.” Purpose is to present the results of the action planning sessions, collect feedback and input, and reflect on next steps. *
