Wild Bird Trust Volunteer Application
The Conservation Area at Maplewood Flats, Operated by WBT Wild Bird Trust of British Columbia, has a NEW Volunteer Program! This is your chance to get involved, give back to your community and spread your passion for the natural world!
19 years or older
Have a valid BC CareCard or Travel Insurance
Be able to communicate in English
Be eligible to volunteer in Canada (check your visa if applicable)
other than English ( incl ASL) at Intermediate level
Which position(s) would you be interested in?
Administrative support: assist in the office and with various Board projects as needed
School Programs: support program leaders.
Host: Engage with visitors. Share your passion for ecology and the natural world!
Special Events: once trained, all volunteers are welcome to help at special events.
Trail Maintenance/restoration projects: remove invasive species, plant native species, trail upkeep.
Coast Salish Nursery: assist in raising native plants for sale to the public
Cultural programs: assist with arts and Indigenous programs
Each of the areas above will involve some training in addition to the Introductory workshop. You can expect to start work under supervision and in partnership with experienced volunteers and staff.
