River Garden Summer Camp Volunteer Form
WHERE: National Teachers' Academy (55 W Cermak Chicago IL 60616)
WHEN: July 31- August 11 Monday-Friday 10am-3pm.
WHY:
The theme of camp this summer will be exploring our connections to the Earth and our own spiritual and physical self. We will explore our belief that the whole Earth is a mosque for us. The beauties of the Earth are, the Quran tells us, a "reminder to mankind", a reminder to those who are disposed to remember their beginning and their end. Campers will learn the importance of connecting with the natural world to grow closer to God. Counselors will help campers apply what they learn about our beautiful deen to the world they explore around them. Counselors will not only teach and guide, but most importantly they will sing, laugh, and play with our campers! Climb, run, swim, dig, explore, and much much more with our adorable campers! Having a fun and engaging counselor is the most important part of our camp program, and we look for the best mentors to guide our youth every year!

WHO:
Assistant counselors are responsible for aiding the head counselor with a group of about 15 children and have the task of managing the group and co-counselors to move through all classes, activities, transitions, lunch, and field trips according to established schedule. Assistant counselors also assist special area teachers as needed and work closely with the children and co-counselors to learn and apply concepts throughout the day and the week in a fun and engaging manner. Leading fun and engaging activities, chanting songs, and guiding our campers to build healthy relationships with peers while connecting everything they learn is key to what our counselors do in the camp environment. Our caring and compassionate counselors are with their group of children all throughout the day and become an important mentor and leader for our eager and happy campers!
