Mighty Yeti Studios is a creator-owned indie animation studio specializing in kids and family entertainment. We're seeking a talented Animatic Editor to join our creative team in bringing our original animated series to life. All positions are remote freelance/part-time independent contractor roles.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in TV animation editing, working with storyboards to create compelling animatics that define the pacing, timing, and overall flow of our shows. Must have TV series animatic experience.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and assemble storyboards into animatics, ensuring clear storytelling, comedic timing, and dynamic pacing.
- Work closely with the Director, Storyboard Artists, and Writers to refine timing, scene transitions, and shot compositions.
- Integrate scratch dialogue, sound effects, and temporary music to enhance the storytelling experience.
- Adjust timing and pacing based on feedback from the creative team to ensure the animatic aligns with the show’s vision.
- Manage and organize animatic assets, including dialogue tracks, storyboard revisions, and timing adjustments.
- Ensure continuity and flow throughout the animatic, maintaining consistency in shot progression and performance beats.
- Export and deliver animatics in required formats for review and production use.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to animatic editing and maintain an efficient workflow.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as an Animatic Editor in TV animation.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong understanding of animation timing, pacing, and comedic beats in television storytelling.
- Experience working with storyboards and scripts to create engaging and dynamic animatics.
- Knowledge of integrating audio elements, including dialogue, sound effects, and temp music, into an animatic.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to take direction and implement feedback efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot timing, pacing, and technical issues in animatics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on 2D and 3D animated series.
- Familiarity with Toon Boom Storyboard Pro or similar storyboard software.
- Basic knowledge of Maya, Blender, or Unreal Engine for integrating 3D layout elements into animatics.
- Experience working with episodic television pipelines and understanding production timelines.
