Terms of Service
For Sabre Escrime of Pasadena
As of October 2019

This document serves as an agreement with the undersigned and Sabre Escrime of Pasadena (henceforth SEP) for instruction of sabre fencing.

Group Classes
Group classes are held on predetermined days as outlined on www.saberpasadena.com. Group classes are open to all paid students in their appropriate group for which they are paid to be in, and one or more instructors. Group lesson payment must be given before the student’s first lesson of the month (or on that day). Group classes begin promptly at each scheduled time, unless otherwise noted. When purchasing group classes, they come in groups of 4, 8, or 12 per month.

Private Lessons
Private lessons are one on one lessons between a student and an instructor. These lessons must be paid for in advance and the general schedule of instruction will be arranged at the time of payment. You may also schedule private lessons at www.saberpasadena.com in the scheduling lessons section. Private lessons will only be honored if they are made through the online system. Private lessons must be scheduled at least 1 week in advance.

Switch Lessons
Non-intermediate students have the ability to trade one group lesson per month for a private lesson. That lesson must be scheduled with the previously mentioned private lesson scheduler, at least a week in advance. Switch lessons

Make-up Lessons
SEP recognizes that life happens. If you need to skip a pre-paid group or private lesson, we will be willing to accommodate you within reason. One group lesson per month can be made up with a switch lesson, or attending another group lesson. A missed private lesson can be rearranged for the same month, or add an extra day to the end of the pre-scheduled private lesson schedule.

Missed Lessons
If you fail to notify SEP at least 24 hours before a missed private or switch lesson, you will not be able to make up that lesson. Any payment made for that lesson will be forfeit. Any unused Group lessons are forfeit at the end of the month. Emergency situations will need some kind of supporting documentation.

Health Requirements
We require all our students to be in a decent level of health. All students should not be sick or injured in any way when attending class or private lessons. We share equipment here, therefore we operate under the assumption that all our students are in compliance with the California public school vaccination standards. If your student is not in compliance we request you let us know.

Equipment Rental
In order to pay for the maintenance, and acquisition of equipment, a $5 fee will be added to every student who does not have their own equipment. This fee will be added to tuition, after discounts, after the third month of enrollment if the student does not acquire their own gear by then. This fee will be removed as soon as the student has their own equipment.

Classroom Etiquette

All students will be required to follow the following rules while at class time.
Students will arrive on time to class and ready to fence.
Students will follow all instructions given by any coach at any time. During instruction, students will keep conversation to a minimum, and be ready to receive instruction at all times.
Students will arrive to class with appropriate attire for exercise.
All students will act with respect to all coaches, fellow students, and guests at all times. This includes saluting before and after fencing, shaking hands, and speaking calmly, and with respect to everyone.
Personally owned gear must be within FIE and USFA standards and is subject to inspection, except for instructor mandated modifications.
Students will treat club gear with respect and will maintain it while it is under their control. Students borrowing gear will assist in putting away club gear properly. Students must put all gear away before leaving for the night.
Students will be aware of their surroundings at all times, and will maintain a safe environment at all times. During group class, students will wear their masks at all times weapons are out, and when not in en guard, students will hold their weapons by the tip, with the pommel on the floor.
While sparring, the use of proper fencing techniques will be used at all times. The highest levels of safety will be observed while sparring.
