APT Sign Up
APT is a specific process to gain your Utah teaching license. You must have district authorization and meet the following criteria to enroll in these courses. To be eligible to gain your license by the APT route you must be accepted into this program by November 1, 2019.

Requirements to Obtain a Level 1 Educator APT License

USBE Requirements
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
2. Pass the appropriate Praxis II content knowledge assessment: See the Praxis Test Chart
3. Complete a background check through the Utah State Board of Education
4. Complete the Educator Ethics Review
5. Submit the APT Application with fee to the USBE

Requirements to Upgrade to Level 2 License

USBE Requirements
1. Complete three years of full-time teaching under the supervision of the master teacher (assigned by the District)
2. Complete the Entry Years Enhancement (EYE) Requirements
a. Receive two professional evaluations per year for three years in a Utah LEA with a satisfactory final evaluation
b. Achieve a score of 160 or better on the Praxis II: PLT test
i. Principles of Learning and Teaching: Early Childhood (5621)
ii. Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6 (5622)
iii. Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 5-9 (5623)
iv. Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7-12 (5624)
3. Complete a professional portfolio based on Utah Effective Teaching Standards
4. Complete two hours of Suicide Prevention Training
5. Re-certify Educator Ethics Review
6. Complete any additional District requirements
