God, Life and Movies (Every Monday night, in person, Jamaica Plain) 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. Movies, the Bible, and great conversation about God and the meanings of life! We love watching movies and milking them for all they’re worth - for depth, beauty, and laughs. We’ll alternate meetings between films and related Bible passages, and every other gathering we’ll share a meal and more time for prayer. Delicious homemade popcorn every time. Theological Book Group (Every Monday night, on zoom) 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.This intrepid band of brainy, curious readers does not shy away from big ideas or provocative issues. If you ever felt like church was a place you had to “check your brain” at the door, then this group of daring thinkers is for you. Hosted by Rev. Dr. Donald Wells

Monday Night Book Group (Every Monday night, in person, Old South Church) 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. This small group reads through books and hosts discussions of them. Hosted by Jenny Keenan

Eating Around the Edges (Twice a month, in person, all over Boston) mostly evenings. Some cities have boroughs, some have districts. Boston is a city of neighborhoods. 24 of them to be exact! Each with its own charm and character. But how often do Bostonians visit other parts of the city? Let's get to know our city and each other better. We are going to meet up once or twice a month in a different neighborhood in the city. We'll gather for a meal at a local restaurant and an after dinner prayer walk (weather permitting). Retired and Ready (Monthly, in person, all over Boston) mostly afternoons. We meet monthly for an event and lunch. The mission of the group is to build community while learning about various sites in the Boston area like museums, historic homes and more. The group is open to all, so you can attend as many or as few events as you choose. Hosted by Charlotte Simpson

Welcome to the Table (Every Wednesday and one Saturday a month, in person, Allston Brighton Food Pantry) 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. Welcome to the Table is a group of Old South members and friends who put their faith into action by helping to feed the hungry at the Allston-Brighton Food Pantry. On either a designated Wednesday afternoon or Saturday morning, volunteers can choose to help serve food or to support clean-up and break-down of food service stations. Following each volunteer session, the group will go to a restaurant to share a meal and conversation. Hosted by Esther Seguin

Men’s Lunch Group (Every Wednesday, on zoom) 1:00 pm-2:00 pm. This is a small group of men, some retired and others still in careers. We are a social group, with an aim to build relationships in the church. Discussions have centered around social justice themes, mysogeny, racial and gender current issues, and patriarchal biaseses. Discussions are encouraged by articles, TED talks and other podcasts. Hosted by David Story.

God's Big Book of Faith (Every Wednesday, on zoom) 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. Ever wonder about Leviticus, or Habakkuk, or Philemon, or Micah? God’s Big Book of Faith will take a look at every book in the Bible (there are 66 of them) over the next couple of years. We will look at the author and purpose of each book and study a major passage. Along the way we will mark the source of the major doctrines of our faith. Rich is an experienced Bible study leader and consultant on church strategic planning. Hosted by Rich Nelson.

Women’s Thursday Group (Every Thursday, on zoom) 1:00 pm-2:00 pm. An intergenerational group of women who meet each week for reflecting together on faith and life, and enjoying spiritual friendships. Discussions sometimes revolve around books the group reads. We often follow special Advent and Lent devotionals for those two periods. Hosted by Pam Roberts and Gail Holman

Thursday Night Supper Club (Every Thursday, in person, Old South Church) 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. Join us for dinner! Every Thursday night after worship, we gather to share food, build community, and pray together.community, and pray together. Hosted by Kat Woodard and Rachel Barton

Through the Bible Bible Study (Every Thursday, on zoom) 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. This group gathers weekly to study and savor the scriptures: to take them chapter by chapter, skipping nothing ... not even the genealogies! Reading the Bible in this way opens up a new world of allusions, parallels, and rich insights. Hosted by Andrew Vosburgh

Sunday Bible Study (Every Sunday, in person and on zoom, Old South Church) 10:00 am-10:50 am. Gather each week for a bible study and exegesis of the Festival Worship passage for that week. Hosted by Justin Dickerson.

Rainbow Table (Twice a month, in person, Old South Church) mostly evenings. Build our chosen family one dinner at a time. Join other queer young adults from across the city for a time to cook and eat together, set intentions, and build community. Hosted by William Wei.

Online Small Group (First Sunday of the month, on zoom) 7:30 pm-8:30 pm. Gather with other online members and Rev. Ashley for a time of fellowship, communion, and deepening our relationships with one another. Please bring something to eat (bread, cracker, cookie) and something to drink (juice, water, coffee) as your communion elements. Hosted by Rev. Ashley Popperson.

Spice Up the Bible (coming Spring 2026!, Old South Church) Are you hungry? Then you need food for the body, mind, and soul! In this small group, we’ll marry Bible passages with the food they reference resulting in a night of food, fellowship, and discussion. These simple meals are designed around Bible references so may involve meat and dairy, but we will do what we can to accommodate different dietary requirements. There is no cost to participate and ingredients will be provided. We'll gather once in November and then again, more regularly in the Spring. Hosted by Priscilla Geigis
