BUILD.org's SWPA Teacher Fellowship Application
Hello educators! Thank you for your interest in joining BUILD.org for our 2023-2024 SWPA Teacher Fellowship. The goal of this fellowship is to bring together educators from across Greater Pittsburgh who are excited to learn more about project-based, experiential learning opportunities and how to engage students. Here's what you can expect from the fellowship:
  • There is an in-person kick-off mixer event on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 4:30-6:30pm to welcome our inaugural cohort of educators and begin to build community
  • The fellowship is a year-long commitment during the 2023-2024 academic school year. There will be a total of 6 monthly sessions (September, October, November, January, February, and March).
  • During each monthly, 90-minute virtual session, educators will convene after school to learn techniques and strategies to implement engaging, experiential learning opportunities. Sessions will take place the first Wednesday of the month from 4:30-6:00pm.
  • There will also be monthly, optional office hours for anyone interested in small group coaching and support. Optional office hours are scheduled for the third Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00pm.
As a Fellow, you will join a Professional Learning Community (PLC) of local educators excited about improving their teaching practice through engaging lessons and projects. You will also receive:
  • In-person fellowship kick-off mixer event
  • $1,000 stipend for participating in six, 90-minute virtual learning sessions (to be paid in equal installments of $500 per semester)
  • Dinner provided by BUILD.org during monthly learning sessions via Doordash gift cards
  • Certificate for 9 hours of Professional Development in project-based learning
  • Participation in BUILD.org's 2024 SWPA Youth Pitch Competition for an additional stipend AND a chance to win prizes for you and your students!
  • BUILD.org swag
