NASA's Neurodiversity Network (N3) SME/Mentor Application Form

Please complete this form if you are interested in hosting an autistic high school intern this summer. Summer 2025 interns will complete a minimum 160 hours of work between June 1 and September 2, 2025. Schedules are flexible based on the school and work commitments of the intern/SME pair. The internship experience will culminate in a final project which will be presented to the N3 community in late August/early September. All mentors are eligible to receive a $2,000 stipend at the completion of the internship.

All interns must be current high school students 16 years of age or older, identify as autistic/on the autism spectrum, and must have completed pre-calculus, and at least two years of a physical science (e.g. earth science, chemistry or physics).

All SMEs must be willing to mentor and conduct a summer-long project with their mentee focused on an area of NASA science (astrophysics, heliophysics, planetary science, earth and environmental science) and must attend a required training on working with neurodiverse students in Spring 2025.

Any questions about this opportunity can be directed to Prof. Lynn Cominsky at lynnc@universe.sonoma.edu. We thank you for your time and interest in our program.
