We’re seeking great presenters who will share strong content in an engaging way that fits with our theme: Back to Basics – Best Practices, Best Donor Experiences, Best Results.
New in 2019: A Summit for Senior Leaders (Red Level), offering an opportunity for Senior Leaders to join for a morning, afternoon or full day of facilitated discussions on the big topics you are grappling with. If you have a topic idea or are a Senior Leader that would like to facilitate a discussion please let us know.
Each session will be 60 minutes (TBD) in length, but can be delivered in a variety of ways to different audiences:
HOW TO (101): Practical sessions for those who are new to fundraising + experienced fundraisers who want to learn new skills
SKILLS+ (201): For experienced fundraisers who want to enhance skills
RED LEVEL (301): For experienced fundraisers who want to discuss topics in-depth
If your session will be presented with a partner, please list the lead/primary contact as the “Speaker” and the second person as the “Co-Speaker”.
If you have previously submitted to speak at Congress 2018 and were not selected, please note that we will be reviewing these applications again (so no need to re-submit).
If your application is successful, the session description, learning outcomes and speaker biography provided in this form will be used for Fundraising Day marketing purposes and made available to conference delegates. Please ensure your wording is clear, concise and correct (and don't be afraid to make it FUN!)
We also encourage you to review the below CFRE accreditation requirements prior to submitting your proposal to ensure your proposed session (if selected) will offer CFRE continuing education points to delegates (a big selling point to attend AFP conferences!)

To learn or upgrade a specific fundraising skill.
Outcome: In-depth class on a specific topic. Part lecture, part group or individual work. Participants will leave having learned and practiced new skills.
Speaker Requirements: Experience in adult education; expertise in subject/topic; ability to manage a multi-dimensional learning environment.
Format: 65% of time dedicated to the lecture; 25% dedicated to group or individual work; 10% for discussion and/or Q&A.
To hear from and be inspired/challenged/informed by a speaker with significant skill and experience.
Outcome: A thought-provoking, highly professional presentation on a topic of current interest.
Speaker Requirements: Expertise in the subject matter; experience delivering lectures; ratings and/or references as a lecturer/speaker.
Format: 90% of time dedicated to the presentation; 10% for discussion and/or Q&A.
To explore a current topic of interest with other professionals.
Outcome: Participants will have the opportunity to share their ideas and explore the complexities of a topic without the expectation of leaving with a specific one-size-fits-all solution.
Speaker Requirements: Experience facilitating group discussion; knowledge of subject/topic; ability to maintain objectivity while creating a stimulating, inclusive discussion environment.
Format: 65% of time dedicated to the presentation of content related to the subject matter; 35% for facilitated group discussion.
4. CASE STUDY
To hear about and learn from the experience of a peer individual, group or organization.
Outcome: A lecture presentation by one or two individuals describing the objectives, methods and outcomes of a particular study or project.
Speaker Requirements: First-hand experience of a specific work or research project; willingness and ability to work within a limited time frame. Speakers should be prepared to summarize their experiences by presenting key learnings and/or recommendations that would be applicable to the widest spectrum possible of session participants.
Format: 80% of time dedicated to the presentation; 10% dedicated to the presentation of key learnings/recommendations; 10% for discussion and/or Q&A.
