IYEP Application - Fall/Winter 2022-23

- Between 17 and 29 years old at start date of September 12, 2022

Ages: 17-29 years old

Hours: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am – 3:30pm
Location: In-person at Drive Youth Employment Services and placements in the community

This program is split into 2 phases:

Phase 1 - Workshops: September 12 - November 25
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays 10am - 3:30pm

Phase 2 - Paid Work Experience: up to 12 weeks
Classes Mondays 10am - 3:30pm (for 10 weeks)
Placement: 21 hours per week for 12 weeks

 - GET PAID Honorarium for completion of first phase, $$ attendance bonuses, and paid work placement (min. wage);

 - RECEIVE $$ support for food (weekly) and transit fare for getting to your placements;

 - LEARN how to write resumes, cover letters, prepare for an interview, (and even how to make a budget!), as well as many more foundational skills that holistically support employment and life in general;

 - EXPERIENCE working at a placement in a low-risk environment;

 - GROW confidence in your skills and abilities in a supportive and welcoming environment;

 - CONNECT with other indigenous youth in a small cohort (7 available spots), learn from guest speakers such as knowledge keepers and local indigenous business owners, and take part in indigenous culture-based workshops.

 - PREPARE for employment with holistic approach to learning life skills and other foundational skills

Participants will receive 1-1 support from Program facilitators, and ongoing support from Employment Counsellors.
