REQUEST FOR LEAK ADJUSTMENT FORM
Per Central Water District Ordinance No. 1-19 Amending Ordinance No. 1-97; Circumstances under which customers may incur excessive water bills by reason of a leak on their side of the water meter which is unknown to them.
Section 1.Water Bill Adjustments:
A customer may file a written application with the District office requesting a relief from an excessive water bill within ninety (90) days of the date of the bill complained of.
The right to seek adjustment of excessive bills is limited to one (1) adjustment in any three (3) year period of time by the same customer. The District Manager finds that the bill was due to excessive water use which resulted from an unknown breakage or faulty fixture belonging to the customer which is not the result of overall neglect and lack of maintenance, and the District Manager further finds that the customer acted with due diligence to repair the problem upon its discover, then the District Manager, in the exercise of reasonable discretion, may adjust the billed amount utilizing the following formula:
The Billed Amount from the leak period less the Billed Amount for the same period in the previous year yields the billed amount attributable to the leak. The adjustment shall be 50% of the billed amount attributable to the leak.
