Volunteer Position Brief

UCSD Sustainability is seeking interested college students to take on volunteer intern positions with our Green Office Certification (GOC) Program. The certification program at UC San Diego collaborates across campus to infuse sustainability into everything we do: curriculum, operations, research and engagement. Volunteer interns play a critical role in expanding UC San Diego’s innovative sustainability leadership.

The goal of the program is to address opportunities for resource consumption savings in campus offices by providing a simple and efficient green certification process.

- Lead and/or assist in sustainability projects in collaboration with offices and departments through formulating, organizing and monitoring projects and programs
- Decide on effective strategic actions for the programs' direction
- Organize processes and activities according to long-term goals
- Review and edit documents and plans
- Be aware of deadlines, budgets, and activities that must be completed
- Assess program performance periodically and on completion and create detailed reports
- Capable of leading presentations that target educating UCSD staff on sustainability awareness and reducing their resource consumption
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent customer service
- Desire to constantly improve

Time Commitment
- 4 hours a week

Work begins immediately on Monday May 1st at 2 PMl
