Thank you for your interest in becoming an Ambassador for your institution for the AAMC Northeast Group on Educational Affairs. The NEGEA advances medical education across the continuum, and Ambassadors serve a key role in connecting and advancing the region.
The NEGEA Ambassadors Program is a catalyst for networking and professional growth across the region. Ambassadors act as champions and advocates for the NEGEA at their respective institutions, ensuring that faculty, staff, trainees, and students are aware of the rich opportunities, resources, and support available through the NEGEA to promote their careers and professional development.
One of the program’s key roles is to amplify the presence of the NEGEA and national GEA at institutions throughout the region and across other AAMC affinity groups and stakeholders. NEGEA is known for being accessible, high-quality, and welcoming–particularly to those new to medical education–Ambassadors embody those attributes. Ambassadors encourage colleagues to present at regional meetings, apply for grant funding, and submit nominations for regional awards, enhancing engagement at their home institutions, while also offering opportunities to showcase their institution’s best educators, innovations, and scholarship on the regional stage.
Ambassadors serve as conduits for engagement with the NEGEA beyond the annual conference, fostering sustained, meaningful relationships with regional peers and programs. Additionally, ambassadors are critical liaisons between the NEGEA Steering Committee and the institutions they represent, ensuring that news, opportunities, and announcements are shared effectively, and that suggestions and needs from across the region are brought to NEGEA leadership.
To be considered, applicants for the role of NEGEA Ambassador must:
- Currently be employed by or hold academic appointment with an AAMC member institution in the Northeast region
- Have attended at least one NEGEA-sponsored event or meeting in the past 2 years (e.g., webinar, NEGEA Annual Meeting, NEGEA Business Meeting, etc)
- Have an active interest in advancing health professions education in the region
