JFWA 2026 Parent Application
Thank you for your interest in JFWA. Please note that due to an increased demand in our adventures, we have moved to a lottery system for acceptance of participants.  All applications that are complete and received by May 30, 2025 will be reviewed. Late applications will be placed on a waiting list.  The Board will determine groups and dates based on those applications.   Acceptance emails with trip and date information will be sent the first week of June 2026.

More information will be needed if your child is accepted into one of our trips.  If you have any questions in this application or our process, don't hesitate to email jfwildernessadventures@gmail.com. Thanks again for sharing a love of the outdoors.

Trip Descriptions:
Basecamp - Students entering 6th & 7th grade

This intro to backpacking trip begins with a hike into the backcountry, and day trips from a basecamp.  While challenging, youth will enjoy plenty of time for games, instruction, and reflection/nature appreciation.  Trip includes a service project honoring the land used.

Discovery  - Students entering 7th & 8th grade

This intermediate trip is for students who have some backcountry experience.  This trip combines the lessons and skills learned on a Basecamp trip and gives a glimpse into the challenging route of an Expedition trip.  Trip includes a service project honoring the land used.

Expedition - Students entering 8th* , 9th, & 10th grade (or any high schooler under 18 years of age**)

This advanced trip is a physically and mentally challenging expedition where participants can expect to learn self-sufficiency, further their backpacking skills and become stewards of the land. Must have done a course with us, extensive personal experience, or a trip with another organization that is similar. Trip includes a service project honoring the land used.
*8th graders who have experience backpacking and want to learn some more advanced wilderness skills can be considered as applicants for this trip.
*High school JFWA alumni can be considered as a trip leader intern. Reach out to jfwildernessadventures@gmail.com to inquire about intern opportunities.
JFWA depends on annual fundraising to provide scholarships, affordable adventures, and updated safety gear and training. Adventurers and their family can volunteer at our fundraising activities.  Participants year after year enjoy catching up with each other at these social and charitable events.  We appreciate your support and assistance for another successful year in the backcountry! Are you able to help with a fundraising task?  *
