The Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) Annual Educational Conference Planning Committee invites pediatricians, fellows, residents, medical students, pediatric nurse practitioners and other pediatric health care providers to share their expertise in delivering pediatric care in primary care and other health care settings via a poster session during the 2018 ICAAP Annual Educational Conference. Abstracts should focus on topics of relevance and interest for clinical pediatric practice.
There is no fee for abstract submissions. However, if accepted you are required to attend the conference on Friday, February 23. All applicants must either be submitted or endorsed by a pediatrician or a pediatric nurse practitioner.
Up to forty abstracts will be accepted for display in the poster session to be held on Friday, February 23 at the ICAAP Annual Educational Conference in Naperville.
The deadline for receipt of abstracts is Friday, February 2, 2018.
Submissions received after the deadline will NOT be considered. Applications and abstracts must be submitted on the online form.
Residents, medical students, and other students in pediatric health sciences are encouraged to submit abstracts developed for other educational opportunities. ICAAP does not require that they only be presented at this conference.
Only one application per person may be submitted. Individuals can be listed as authors on other submissions but the lead author may only submit one application.
The 2018 ICAAP Annual Educational Conference Planning Committee will review posters the last week of January and select up to forty posters for the session and for the oral presentation. Conference staff will notify authors of abstract acceptance no later than February 2, 2018. If there is a change in the contact information related to presenting author or any information regarding abstract acceptance, submitters should send an e-mail containing the new contact information to Dru O'Rourke at email@example.com. Authors who will be unable to present their papers personally—either during the oral presentation, if selected, or during the allotted time for the poster session, should specifically name a proxy who will be able to both describe the poster project in detail and respond to questions that follow. As this is a CME activity, a presenter must be present and the day of presenter must complete a CME disclosure form.
Each poster will have an area of approximately 48 inches vertical and 96 inches horizontal. Conference staff will provide pushpins to mount posters in the assigned area.
Conference staff will provide the individuals listed as the primary contacts for accepted abstracts with specific details related to poster board size and other logistical details upon acceptance.
The committee will review submissions and select one abstract for a brief oral presentation (15 minutes) during the luncheon session at the 2018 ICAAP Annual Educational Conference (Friday, February 23, 2018, 12:45-2:15pm).
The abstract accepted for oral presentation during the conference luncheon will also be asked to send a PowerPoint™ presentation of no more than ten slides to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 16, 2018 to be prepared as a handout for the session.
