Description: It's time to harvest our Sugar Kelp! Join us on Governors Island Saturday, April 18th as part of the Governors Island Earth Day Celebration to see the progress our seaweed has made and learn about the growing and harvesting process. Volunteer activities will include harvesting the kelp long lines off of Yankee Pier, rinsing the kelp once it’s on shore, bringing the kelp to the hoop house, and arranging it in the hoop house to dry. Sea air, salty hands, and good company included.
Get outside with us — it's fun for the whole family!
