We rely on volunteers with a wide variety of ages and experiences to support and encourage our incredible dancers! Whether you a youth offering friendship, a dancer eager to share your passion, or an adult hoping to give the gift of time, Dancing Beyond Limits is a great way to connect with some incredible individuals through dance. DBL is an adaptive dance program for youth of all abilities, and we are in need of dedicated "buddies" to help our participants reach their dancing dreams!
All volunteers above the age of 18 are required to complete a background check. There is no cost to volunteer, except your gift of time and commitment to your dance partner. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt to wear for performances.
Who are we? Dancing Beyond Limits (DBL) is a group of phenomenal youth in Lincoln and Omaha who have gone beyond their own limitations to pursue a love for dance. Alongside a volunteer, each student is challenged to move beyond physical or developmental limits in an uplifting environment. Confidence, teamwork, and friendship are foundational elements instilled through DBL, a non-profit organization focused on providing adaptive dance, yoga, and fitness opportunities.
What is a dance buddy? Volunteers who partner with a youth or young adult in a dance, cheer, or yoga program. You will provide encouragement, friendship, and sometimes physical assistance or guidance to help your partner participate in class. No dance experience is needed, but you will most likely take the stage alongside your dancer cheering on their bright smile as they shine on stage!
When and where are the classes? As a buddy, you will sign up for one of the following programs:

We continue to ask all volunteers to wear masks and self-screen for symptoms of covid-19. We will also ask our dancers to wear masks, but please be aware that there may be some exceptions. We will maximize social distance, but due to the nature of adaptive dance, volunteers should expect to be in close proximity with their dancer. Thank you for helping to make it possible to dance together again!
