McLean County Museum of History/Cruisin' with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center Guest Survey: Reopening and COVID-19
The Museum and Visitors Center closed to the public on March 14th in order to stem the spread of COVID-19. We are developing plans for when — and how — we will welcome visitors back into the building. Input from museum members, volunteers, and guests is invaluable as we work toward reopening safely. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
The Museum, in accordance with the Restore Illinois Phased Plan for reopening and following Illinois State Mandates, requires any individual over the age of 2 to wear a face mask while inside our building. If you are unable to do so for any reason, you can still engage with the Museum virtually by accessing our online resources at
If you are exhibiting any symptoms or have a temperature above 100.4 degrees, please do not visit the Museum.
Physical distancing of at least six feet is required inside the building when possible. Please follow directional flow arrows and floor markers throughout the building.
During your visit, feel free to use any of the additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the Museum. Also, please practice frequent hand-washing and avoid touching your face. Public restrooms are located on the ground floor in the Visitors Center.
During the day, we are regularly cleaning surfaces you might need to touch, such as handrails, benches, and elevator buttons in all public areas. Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized every 4 hours each day.
Capacity inside the building will be limited to a maximum of 10 guests at one time. Groups of 10 will be asked to divide into two groups when exploring exhibit spaces. Visitation to the Museum will be available through timed entry and limited to a maximum of 10 per group for 1.5 hours maximum. Reservations can be made through our website or by calling the Museum.
All visitors to the Library and Archives will be by appointment only. Appointments will be available between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. during regular Museum hours. To visit the Museum's Library and Archives, please email
or call 309-827-0428 for a separate appointment.
Avoid touching Museum interactives with your hands. Each visitor will be given a stylus to engage with interactives during their visit. You can also use them to press buttons in the elevator, and to begin audio or videos in the exhibit galleries. Return the stylus at the end of your visit, and we’ll sanitize it and quarantine it for use by future guests. The Discovery Room (located on the third floor) will remain closed until further notice.
The Museum and Visitors Center anticipate opening Spring 2021. Thank you!
