Title: What's Your Superpower? Are You a Bystander, Ally, or Co-Conspirator?
Date: December 13, 2021
Speaker: Jessica Pepple, Ed.S., MBA, Regional Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the tri-towns of Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville Public Schools
Description: The late Dr. Maya Angelou taught us that one of the wisest things we can do is be an advocate for ourselves and other people in need. Helping educators become involved in the process of allyship builds upon an inclusive environment that will promote equity beyond school building into the real world for adults and students. As participants embark on their journey of becoming advocates for our students’ education, it is important to acknowledge each person’s stance in the journey. Within this workshop participants will analyze the similarities and differences in being a bystander, ally, and co-conspirator while considering how to move up at least one level on the allyship spectrum.
