The Youth Leadership Council at Mass Mentoring works to bring together youth voice from across the state of Massachusetts in an effort to enable students with greater skills, knowledge, and opportunity to advocate for mentoring resources and critical policy initiatives that affect their schools and communities. By first analyzing and reflecting on their own strengths, students will create and implement a plan of action to spread awareness on a greater need for mentoring support and resources within their schools and communities.
MMP is looking for three to four Boston-based youth to serve as the first MMP Youth Leadership Council. The commitment is 1.5 hours a week from the middle of March to the end of June. Meetings will take place at the MMP's Boston office in Chinatown. Council members will receive a stipend.
Responsibilities and expectations include:
- Attending and actively participating in weekly meetings- Working to understand how personal experiences are related to Massachusetts policy- Completing a short field research project to be completed the week after April break- Choosing a public relations project to work on (Op-ed, PSA, meeting with a legislator, etc.)- Planning and executing a peer workshop to share what they have learned through the programi
