Beldina Odenyo Onassis Bursary 2026

In honour of our beloved hen, Beldina Odenyo Onassis,Hen Hoose is proud to offer this bursary to support an artist in developing an original song through a dedicated, hands-on creative process.

The selected artist will receive a fully supported development opportunity, including a recording day at Chem 19 with a Hen Hoose producer, a full day of songwriting development, and two hours of bespoke one-to-one mentoring tailored to their artistic practice. The finished song will be shared across Hen Hoose’s social platforms and newsletter, connecting the artist with a wider creative community.

This bursary is open to Scotland-based women (including cis and trans women) and non-binary people who have faced barriers in their creative journey. We welcome applicants at all stages, from emerging to more established artists, who can demonstrate a commitment to songwriting and music-making.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be based in Scotland
  • Be available to attend the Chem 19 recording day in person
  • Have demonstrable experience in songwriting or music-making (all levels welcome)
  • Be able to share a demo track as part of their application
  • Be willing to reflect on barriers they have faced in their creative journey

This opportunity is about creating space, support, and visibility—centering artists whose voices deserve to be heard and amplified.

Applications will open on Tuesday 7th April at 10:00am and will close on Tuesday 28th April at 10:00am.

If you have access requirements, need travel or childcare support, or have any questions about the bursary, please contact yoly@henhoose.com.

Hen Hoose is a small, part-time not-for-profit organisation. It may take some time to review all applications, but we will be in touch with everyone as soon as we can. While we would love to support everyone who applies, we are only able to offer this opportunity to a single artist. We are continually working to create more opportunities like this in the future.

Any data collected will be used for monitoring purposes, helping us to improve accessibility and broaden our reach to women and non-binary people.  By attending any Hen Hoose event, you agree to our code of conduct, which can be found here.
